Emergency Laboratory

Head of Emergency Laboratory:
Mrs. Elizabeth Sheli, M.Sc

General

The  Laboratory Unit also includes a laboratory for emergency tests.

This laboratory operates round-the-clock, every day of the year, and primarily serves the Emergency Medicine Department, the Neonatology Department, the Dyna and Fala Weinstock Pediatric Emergency Center, the Women’s Emergency Room, the General Intensive Care Unit, and the Cardiology Unit. The Emergency Laboratory also performs tests for the in-patient hospital departments.

This department is characterized by its ability to react quickly and provide laboratory results within a short time through the computer system.

This rapid service is designed to address the unique needs of the Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Units in treating severely ill patients, and in reducing the load of patients in the emergency rooms.

The range of tests performed in the emergency lab is very broad, and includes: urgent hematology, clotting function, urgent biochemistry, tests for blood gas and pH, urine analysis, and toxicology.
